L42

Long-Endurance USV for Offshore Hydrographic & Geophysical Surveys

L42 USV: Long-Endurance Autonomy for Next-Generation Offshore Survey

The L42 Uncrewed Surface Vessel (USV) is a next-generation offshore survey platform engineered for hydrographic surveys, geophysical surveys, offshore wind farm inspections, and pipeline route mapping. With 8-day endurance, over 1,500 km range, and multi-sensor integration, the L42 delivers high-resolution ocean data with lower risk, lower cost, and significantly reduced carbon footprint.

Redundant Hybrid Propulsion — Always on Mission

The L42 is a catamaran fitted with four independent electric outboard motors and two generators.

Steering is achieved through differential thrust, so the loss of any single motor does not result in a loss of maneuverability, the remaining motors provide sufficient turning moment to maintain safe control.

8 Days Endurance

With up to 8 days of nonstop operation, the L42 delivers true long-endurance autonomy. Less downtime. More data. Maximum offshore efficiency.

Flexible Multi-Sensor Integration

The L42 features a modular mission architecture supporting dual moonpools, dual auto lifters, an SVP winch, a towing winch, and multiple mounting interfaces. This enables fast integration and maintenance of hydrographic and geophysical sensors—including MBES, SBP, SSS, USBL, ADCP, and more.

Advanced Control:
Purpose-Built for USV Operations

OceanAlpha’s in-house USV control system provides reliable autonomous navigation, real-time situational awareness, and seamless mission planning. Designed specifically for USVs, it ensures continuous updates, expanded functionality, and long-term operational stability.
