DP2-Capable Offshore USV for Work-Class ROV Inspection, Survey and Light Intervention

The OceanAlpha V180 is a 23.8 m-class catamaran platform designed to integrate a Work-Class ROV, TMS, LARS, acoustic positioning systems and marine survey payloads into one coordinated offshore operating system.

Combining twin moonpools, hybrid-electric power, remote-operation capability and manned/uncrewed operating modes, the V180 is designed to support repeatable subsea inspection, survey and selected light-intervention missions.

Designed Around Subsea Work—not Just Vessel Autonomy

The V180 is designed as an integrated remote subsea working platform rather than a vessel-only interface.

Its marine platform, dynamic positioning system, Work-Class ROV, TMS, LARS, mission payloads, communications and remote-control functions can be engineered as one coordinated operating solution.

This integrated approach supports more repeatable mission planning, clearer system interfaces and reduced dependence on large conventional crewed support vessels for selected offshore operations.

Offshore Oil and Gas Asset Inspection

Visual, sonar and instrument-assisted inspection of subsea pipelines, risers, manifolds, moorings, structures and associated offshore assets.

Offshore Wind and Subsea Cable IMR

Inspection of turbine foundations, inter-array and export cables, scour conditions, cable routes and other subsea infrastructure.

Seabed and Route Survey

Integration of MBES, USBL and optional hydrographic or geophysical payloads for seabed mapping, route verification and worksite assessment.

Marine Science and Environmental Monitoring

Long-duration acquisition of seabed, oceanographic and environmental data using project-specific sensor packages.

V180 Core Features

Work-Class ROV Integration

A dedicated nominal 2.0 m × 4.0 m moonpool supports the integration and deployment of a Work-Class ROV and TMS package. The final ROV, TMS, LARS, umbilical and tooling configuration is selected against the required water depth, current, payload and intervention tasks.

Twin-Moonpool Mission Architecture

A secondary nominal 1.5 m × 1.5 m moonpool supports USBL, MBES and other acoustic or survey payloads. Together with the aft working deck, the arrangement enables combined ROV, positioning and survey operations without changing the vessel’s core architecture.

DP2-Capable Station-Keeping

The V180 incorporates a redundant DP2-capable control, power, propulsion and position-reference architecture designed for stable vessel positioning during ROV and subsea operations.

Final station-keeping performance, DP notation and acceptance criteria are subject to vessel-specific DP capability analysis, class approval and proving trials.

Hybrid-Electric Power and Extended Endurance

Two diesel generator sets and an energy-storage system supply propulsion, mission equipment and onboard services. The architecture is designed to support efficient power management across transit, DP and ROV operating phases.

Manned and Uncrewed Operating Modes

The V180 supports onboard operation during commissioning, mobilisation and selected missions, together with remotely supervised and uncrewed operating modes for approved offshore operations.
